“PETRICHORA”
DOT ENSEMBLE THEATRE - THESALONIKI/GREECE
By Amalia Kontogiann
“Petrikora” is a contemporary performance rooted in myth, memory, and the human need for transcendence. Drawing from the legendary Balkan folk ballad The Bridge of Arta, the work reimagines an ancestral tale through the language of physical theatre, ritual structure, and dramaturgically embedded traditional song. Petrichora is not a reenactment of a myth, but a ritual of reckoning. It invites the audience not just to witness a story, but to stand inside its unfolding. It is a performance for the audience, with the audience—a shared space where past and present confront one another, and where the choices of the myth echo into the dilemmas of today.
