The idea for this show was born long before the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out in 2022. In fact, it was the Syrian conflicts that began to arouse my curiosity in how children lived such a problem. It has been several months of reading stories, news, magazines, newspapers, documentaries, films… and in all of them I end up with the same conclusion: children are the most resilient; they are the ones who offer the most strength, support and vitality to their parents, siblings and friends. They are the ones who transform fear into something pleasant first. They are the ones who adapt to circum- stances more quickly. Irene Villa, who lost both her legs in an attack in Madrid in the early 1990s, accepted that her new life began without two legs. Without complaining. How much we miss being children. How much we longed to be adults without knowing what was in store for us. I want to be a child, directing, writing, performing, being amazed every day at how beautiful the world is, how magical music is or how lucky we are to have been born in Europe. I want to smile.
